Our story
As often the case, it all started with a love story. When Max and Joia met years ago, both originally from The Netherlands, they fell in love with each other and with the island. They quickly formed a strong partnership in life and business, complementing each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and interests.
As avid travelers and adventurers themselves, they wanted to create a place they would want to stay at; one in the heart of Pietermaai. So, they decided to take a leap of faith and design, build and run BOHO Bohemian boutique hotel.
Joia has a bohemian soul, a passion for interior design, a knack for sales & marketing, and an eye for detail. Max brings their visions to life and makes sure operations run smoothly. He is a man of many talents: he builds, fixes, and manages the property.
Together with their small yet very skilled team, they go above and beyond to give guests a memorable & personalized stay in paradise. Their passion for hospitality and their devotion to BOHO is apparent in every detail and corner of the hotel. The couple also runs sister property Boutique Hotel ‘t Klooster.
