Why are flamingos pink?

Did you know that flamingos get the color from the food they eat. When there is insufficient food, or when they ingest food that contains no or less carotenoid substances, the pink color of the plumage can then become paler. You are what you eat! That certainly applies to the flamingo!

Where on Curacao can you see flamingos?

You can see flamingos in two places on Curaçao: at St. Michael's Bay and at the salt pans of Jan Kok in St. Willibrordus, also called the saliña of Rif-Sint Marie. If you drive from Willemstad toward Willibrordus, you can watch the beautiful animals along the road.
